PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged people to shun their personal differences, at least ahead of general elections, which are scheduled to be held on February 8.

“Now the election is near. I want to request you that for a few months forget your personal differences,” he said while addressing party workers in Peshawar on Saturday. “If you forget this then no power in the world can stop you. You can win elections.”

The former Sindh ruling party has been raising issues of a level-playing field for all parties ahead of the general elections. It has also claimed that the ‘King’s party’—a name used for parties near to the establishment in Pakistan’s political spectrum—would not be able to gather many votes.

In his last speech, the scion of Bhutto dynasty called for giving a chance to new faces in the country rather than politicians who have served as prime minister multiple times.

“I promise you that hopefully if you give me support, there will be no need of anyone. If you work together I won’t have to see right and left or find any ally,” he said and added that the situation was different as compared to elections in 2013 and 2018.

Bilawal added that the party supporters would have more advantage if they would put in more effort. “I wish to complete the mission of my mother and maternal grandfather. I need your support in this endeavour. Hopefully, if you continue to support me the way you supported my Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, then I am not afraid of anyone.”

He reiterated that the people would be deciding the next prime minister in the country.

“If someone thinks they can forcefully a prime minister, then they are mistaken,” he said, “we are ready to face anyone. We will not be part of any IJI [Islami Jamhoori Ittehad].”

The scion of Bhutto dynasty went on to add that older politicians should sit at home or pray in mosques as the country’s 70% youth needed new faces to lead the country.

“People have become bored of old politicians. It is the demand of Pakistan’s youth,” he said and vowed that the PPP would make Pakistan one.

He expressed hope that Pakistan would become a modern and powerful country and there would be ease for the people.

He also spoke about the 16 months performance of the coalition government and wondered whether his fellow members of the Pakistan Democratic Movement government were ready to contest elections on their performance.

Earlier this month, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif who served as the prime minister in last government had said that crying would not lead them anywhere.

“But Pakistan’s foreign minister cannot resolve all issues of the country,” he said while taking note of the PDM tenure and called for the need for having a PPP prime minister to address those problems.

He reiterated that the PPP would provide ‘Kisaan Card’ and ‘Mazdoor Card’.

“PPP supporters are on the ground and ready to face any party,” he said.
