ECP does not have its own server to store data, report reveals
As general elections in the country draw closer, media reports revealed on Saturday that the Election Commission of Pakistan does not have its own server to store data.
ECP has signed a deal with the National Database and Registration Authority to use the latter’s servers for the general elections.
The Commission will pay rent to NADRA for the server hosting service.
Additionally, the ECP has also developed an Election Management System to compile the results of the general elections. The new system has developed on modern basis and will be able to transmit results with or without an internet connection.
The ECP has already tested the system in all four provinces and plans to use it both digitally and manually. Data entry operators have also been trained to use the new system.
The Commission has also decided to extend the deadline for foreign observers to apply for visas by one month. The observers will now be able to file their applications by December 15.
