Pakistan condemns Israeli bombardment near Gaza hospital
Pakistan has condemned the bombardment by Israeli occupation forces in the surroundings of a Jordanian field hospital in occupied Gaza, resulting in injuries to seven Jordanian staff members.
“This inhumane attack is the latest in a series of attacks on hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza and constitutes a war crime and a flagrant violation of International law,” the Foreign Office said in a post on X, erstwhile Twitter, on Thursday.
Israel has pounded Gaza with air strikes and cut off food and fuel. Gaza health authorities deemed reliable by the United Nations say more than 11,000 people have been confirmed killed, more than 40% of them children.
The FO called for a thorough investigation into the “barbaric incident” and other attacks on medical facilities in Gaza and for holding the occupation forces accountable for the war crimes being perpetrated in the occupied Palestinian territories.
At the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit on Gaza, interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar had called for exploring the possibility of instituting proceedings at the International Court of Justice under the genocide convention and in the interim requesting provisional measures.
He had called for strict observance of humanitarian law must be compelled to ensure the safety of schools, places of worship and refugee camps in accordance with its obligation as an occupying power under international humanitarian law.
Moreover, a Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit resolution on Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people had asked the war crimes court to investigate Israel over the ‘war crimes’ against Palestinians and assigned the general secretaries of the OIC to follow up on the implementation of the probe.
“The international community must urgently intervene to bring an end to the atrocities being committed in Gaza and for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilian lives and infrastructure,” the FO said.
