American President Joe Biden has nominated Pakistani-American citizen Adeel Mangi as a judge in the Federal Court of Appeals.

According to the American newspaper Washington Post, Joe Biden has announced the appointment of Oxford and Harvard-educated jurist Adeel Mangi as a judge in the Third Circuit of the Federal Court of Appeals.

Adeel Mangi, 46, hails from Karachi and will become the first Muslim judge on the Federal Court of Appeals in US history after being confirmed by the Senate.

The move comes more than two years after Biden nominated Zahid N. Qureshi, the first Muslim to the federal district court.

Adeel Mangi was among the eight nominees announced by the White House on Wednesday.

The nominee is exceptionally qualified, experienced, and committed to the rule of law and our Constitution, the White House said in a statement.
