To step down or not ? Babar Azam begins discussions with close friends
Skipper and world’s second-best batsman Babar Azam has started consultation regarding his future after World Cup 2023 as he has been criticized by the veterans and cricket lovers.
According to the report, published in Daily Jang it was quoted that Babar Azam held a consultation with a former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata where the team will land against England for their last attempt to reach the semi-final.
In view of the team’s performance in the World Cup, Babar Azam will decide on returning home regarding his captaincy. He is thinking about stepping down from the captaincy in the current situation, but he will take his father’s advice into account.
Skipper is disappointed with the attitude of the PCB and former cricketers, in view of which he has decided to step down from his position in white ball cricket.
“People close to Babar Azam advised him to leave the leading position in the three formats as Pakistan head to face Australia after the World Cup and Babar’s fellows believe that prominent names in captaincy had failed in the Test series against Australia.”
It was also revealed by the sources that Babar had intended to announce his decision in India soon after the significant clash against the English team, but now he will make this decision on his return home.
