The Afghan Taliban government’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on Wednesday said that the establishment of peace in Pakistan was not the responsibility of Afghanistan.

“The Afghan government does not allow anyone to use Afghan soil against Pakistan. However, it is not the responsibility of the Afghan government to establish peace in Pakistan,” he said while reacting to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s statement on cross-border attacks.

Earlier today, PM Kakar said that terror attacks in Pakistan have increased by 60% since the Taliban-led government took over Afghanistan two years ago. He added that 15 Afghan citizens have been involved in terror attacks in Pakistan.

Mujahid said that Pakistan should sort out its domestic problems and not blame Afghanistan for its failures.

“The increase in the attacks post-Afghan Taliban takeover does not mean Afghanistan is behind those attacks. The weapons in Afghanistan are in safe hands. Weapon smuggling has been banned and every unlawful activity has been ended,” he added.

Afghanistan wants good relations with Pakistan as a brotherly and neighbour country, he said, adding that the other party should also realise the goodwill of Afghanistan.

The Pakistani government should not doubt the Afghan government’s resolve of not letting its soil be used for infiltration in other countries, the Afghan government spokesperson said.
