24 years after ‘Hum Sath Sath Hain’ was released, Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit said she revealed why she rejected the role.

‘Hum Sath Sath Hain’ featured Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Karishma Kapoor and was released in November 1999, Sooraj Barjatiya directed the movie which revolves around a huge joint family that eventually drifts apart due to a misunderstanding.

Madhuri said she rejected the role in the movie as Salman Khan was also part of the cast of the film. She added that she could not turn down offers from Sooraj Barjatya, so she had a chat with him about the role she could play in the film.

In an interview with Indian media, Madhuri revealed that she could take Karisma or Sonali’s roles after he and Salman worked together in ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun (HAHK)’. She felt that it could be challenging to play a bhabhi-devar relationship with Salman.

She said after doing a love story with Salman Khan it was tough to film Bhabi’s role, and that is why she rejected the role which was later played by Tabu.

She said, “But if you put me in Tabu’s place and visualise Salman touching my feet, I think people would have hooted in the theatres. And I think it’s right, because of ‘HAHK’, which was a love story between Salman and me.”

Sooraj Barjatya’s film ‘HAHK’ was released five years back from ‘Hum Sath Sath Hain’, it was a love story of Prem and Nisha role played by Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit.
