Weather turns cold as Quetta receives rainfall
**Rain with thunderstorms in various cities of Balochistan including Quetta, has increased the intensity of cold in the province. **
In the wake of the prediction, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert to the concerned department to address the problems that might emerge with the anticipated downpour.
The rainwater accumulated at Imdad Chowk, Zarghon Road, GPO Chowk and other areas, and the rain also made the winter wave strong.
On the other hand, the PMD’s weather forecast indicates the possibility of rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and snowfall in the upper districts of the country.
PDMA issued a notice to all district administrations to stay alert. In view of heavy rains and winds, the district administration has been instructed to take precautionary measures.
The advisory stated that the temperature is likely to drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
According to DGP DMA, the district administration has been directed to ensure the availability of small heavy machinery and to monitor rain drains.
PDMA in its advisory directed people should stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings and structures, cyan boards and billboards, the post said. Tourists and the local population in sensitive highlands have been advised to be aware of weather conditions and take precautionary measures.
PDMA says that messages to the district administration in sensitive districts should be conveyed to the local population in local languages. In any emergency situation, all concerned agencies should be vigilant in maintaining road links and provide alternative routes for traffic in case of road closure.
Apart from giving advance warning to the passengers on the provincial and national highways in the sensitive areas, the concerned authorities have also been instructed to move the people to safe waiting areas.
According to PDMA, rains and snowfall are likely to continue till November 10. Tourists going to northern regions should take special precautions during this time.
