World’s ‘tallest’ Pakistani man, dies at 43

He held the title of world’s tallest man from 2000 to 2006

Ghulam Shabbir, once the world’s ‘tallest’ man, passed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday following a prolonged illness. He was 43.

His height was 7ft eight inches. Shabbir was born in Lalian, Punjab in 1980.

Shabbir claimed to have held the record for the world’s tallest man from 2000 to 2006.

Arab News in its report on November 16, 2012 said that Shabbir lived mostly in Dubai where he took part in advertising campaigns and entertainment programmes1.

He needed everything to be tailor-made for him to suit his measurements. He wore shoes with a length of 40cm.
