Zardari, Nawaz vow to work together to resolve economic issues
In a telephonic conversation on Monday, the two bigwigs of Pakistan’s politics Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif agreed on taking “important decisions” in order to resolve the economic issues.
Sources told Aaj News that the PPP co-chairman congratulated the the PML-N supremo on returning to Pakistan after ending four years of his self-imposed exile.
The development comes a day after Nawaz said that he would start meeting the political leaders in the country ahead of the general elections which are due on February 8, 2024.
Many politcal experts have welcomed such an initiative as they call for political stability in the country before going into the polls.
Everyone would do their part to save the state, the two leaders agreed.
They further agreed on taking “important decisions” to provide relief to the people due to economic difficulties. Sources said that the two leaders invited each other for a meeting.
Earlier in the day, the former prime minister began his political activities by visiting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz secretariat in Model Town after four years.
He was also accompanied by his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, who is also the party’s chief organiser. A party ticket holder, Imran Javed, also sacrificed a goat as ‘sadqa’.
In a video shared by the PML-N on X, Nawaz said that the party if got another chance would focus on the economy and added that everything fell under it.
“Nothing would make us happier if we are able to serve to the common people,” he said and claimed that it has been the party’s “strong point” in the past three terms.
Moreover, Zardari in his statement expressed his hope that sun of February 8 would rise with message of Bilawal’s victory.
Meanwhile, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had a telephonic conversation with MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui where the former invited the latter for a meeting with the party supremo Nawaz.
A statement from the party said that the two discussed political situation and general elections.
It added that a MQM-P delegation led by Siddiqui and comprising Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar would meet Nawaz on Tuesday (tomorrow).
