Sindh govt announces holiday on Nov 13

The Sindh government has announced another holiday on November 13 for the Hindu community on account of their religious festival Diwali.

The notification issued by the provincial government stated that all members of the Hindu community working in public and private organizations will enjoy the holiday on November 13 (Monday) due to their religious festival of Diwali.

Earlier, the Sindh government had announced a public holiday on November 9 on Iqbal Day and the Chief Secretary Sindh Fakhr Alam had issued a notification in this regard.

The Hindu community celebrates Diwali as a religious festival in November of every year. It is also called the ‘Festival of Lights’ or ‘Festival of Good Luck’, so people light lamps on the day.

On this day the Hindu community worships Lakshmi and offers prayers. Entrepreneurs prefer starting a new business on Diwali day.

This five-day-long festival is equally important in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. According to Hindu traditions, this day is also attributed to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth.

In this festival, Hindu people decorate their houses and prepare sweets and food. The Hindu community celebrates Diwali by burning firecrackers and pholjaries after the prayers.
