‘Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif are of same political origin’

Legal experts call upon political parties to sit together for resolving country’s issues

When many experts and journalists are calling for politicians to shun differences and sit together to resolve issues, legal expert Ahsan Bhoon is skeptical about the role of two arch-rivals parties PTI and the PML-N in the due process.

“I think reconciliation is not more than a lip service,” the former Supreme Court Bar Association head told Aaj News on Sunday while speaking about the political situation and the PML-N supremo’s decision to reach out to all parties. “With the exclusion of the PPP, all these people, Imran Khan or Nawaz Sharif originally came from the same origin.”

He metaphorically described the two parties’ origin in the country’s political spectrum, saying that different forces supported them in their political development.

Bhoon was on Shaukat Piracha’s show Rubaroo which was aired on Aaj News on Sunday.

“Their mindset is that if I am in the government, then there is the state and the government and only then the country can survive,” Bhoon said, “Khan sb talked to everyone and he is suffering. Ultimately he attacked the institution just for his own wishes.”

The legal expert went on to add that Nawaz also did the same actions in the past.

He was of the view that if the politicians want to have reconciliation should have a minimum agenda. Bhoon praised former president Asif Ali Zardari for devolving his right to the prime minister through the 18th Constitutional Amendment and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa for giving the verdict in favour of a verdict that curtailed his powers.

Pakistan Bar Council Chairman Hassan Raza Pasha, former SCBA Abid Zuberi, and former Punjab governor Malik Rafique Rajwana were also on the show.

They also supported the demand for reconciliation in order to lead the country forward.

Zuberi highlighted that the PTI has no other choice at the moment to have dialogue and welcome anyone who should come with such a proposal.

“You cannot discount any party. It is better to talk to everyone.”

Rajwana, who also belongs to the PML-N, stressed that tolerance was “most” important and dialogue should be held with everyone.
