Rawalpindi man sentenced to 4 years in prison for harassing, blackmailing woman
A man in Rawalpindi was sentenced to four years in prison for harassing and blackmailing a woman and sharing her photos online.
Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Waris Javed announced the verdict on Saturday convicting the man, named Nouman Atta, to four years in prison. He has also been ordered to pay a Rs400,000 fine.
Atta was convicted under sections 21 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.
The case against him was registered in February this year by the Federal Investigation Agency’s Rawalpindi circle. The case was pursued on behalf of the FIA by Director Law Sikandar Zaman.
He was convicted of sharing a woman’s priate photos and videos on the internet without her consent.
Atta has been sent to Adiala Jail for simple (non-rigorous) imprisonment.
