The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday extended former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s bail till October 26 in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield cases.

The court issued notice to the National Accountability Bureau to seek its response over Sharif’s petition for the restoration of his appeals in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases.

Earlier, Sharif arrived at the Islamabad High Court and surrendered before the court after getting protective bail in the two cases.

After the extension of his bail, the former PM left the IHC.

Nawaz, who arrived in the country after four years of exile on Saturday, had obtained protective bail from the high court which expires today.

Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb will hear the petition on his appeals restored in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases.

Before coming to the IHC, Nawaz appeared in the Accountability Court infront of Judge Muhammad Bashir in the Toshakhana case.

Judge Bashir granted Nawaz bail and adjourned hearings till November 20.

Judge Bashir had agreed to suspend Nawaz’s perpetual warrants to allow him to appear in court. The judge had ruled that the warrants would be restored if Nawaz did not appear in person.

In another development, Punjab’s interim government also granted relief to the former Prime Minister by suspending his sentence in the Al-Azizia case on Tuesday.
