Caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Domki has urged the transporters and traders to reduce fares and commodities’ prices after the caretaker government slashed the prices of petroleum products.

“During the ongoing month, the prices of petrol decreased by Rs48 and diesel declined by Rs23. The Pakistan Stock Exchange has also stabilised after six years, while the prices of cement and lead are also on a decline,” he told journalists on Quetta on Monday.

The provincial government has directed all commissioners, deputy commissioners and price control committees to bring stability in the prices while the provincial government is also working to ensure a reduction in the prices of commodities, Domki said.

According to the chief minister, the law and order situation in Balochistan had been taken into consideration in the Apex Committee meeting. However, he said that the issue cannot be resolved in a day and will take time.

Domki went on to add that it was against the traditions of Balochistan to kill labourers coming from other provinces.

In the Turbat incident, there were some shortcomings of the administration, on which the district administration has been changed, he said, while calling for registration of the workers so the provincial administration knows their presence in the province.

On Afghan refugees, Domki said that they were Pakistan’s guests for decades but will be sent back to their country with dignity.

The Afghan national will need to come to the country through legal means, he said, adding that there will only be legal traffic on the Pak-Afghan border.

He said that Balochistan’s caretaker setup was ready to hold election on the orders of the Election Commission.
