Soldier martyred in North Waziristan gun battle with terrorists: ISPR
A soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists during an intelligence based operation in the general area of Mir Ali, North Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, the Inter-Services Public Relations reported.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said that at least six terrorists were killed while eight others were wounded in the gun battle with security forces. The operation was conducted on the reported presence of terrorists.
The martyred soldier was named Sepoy Abdul Hakeem, 33, a resident of Naseerabad district in Balochistan. He fought gallantly, said the ISPR.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site, it said, adding that the terrorists remained involved in terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of innocent civilians.
Sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area. “Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism,” said the ISPR.
