Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was needed to ‘fix everything’, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz said on Thursday, as the party prepares for the party supremo’s homecoming.

“Nawaz Sharif is needed to fix everything after everything has gone wrong,” she said while presiding over a party meeting in Lahore on Thursday. “Nawaz, who did not compromise on the defence of Pakistan, will make the nation an economic power.”

The meeting was held to review the preparations for the former prime minister’s return to Pakistan on October 21, nearly four years after he left in November 2019 to seek medical treatment in London.

Nawaz left London on Wednesday for Saudi Arabia where he would stay for almost a week, visiting the holiest sites of Islam in Makkah and Medina. He would also meet with Saudi officials.

The party has planned a public gathering in Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan where the party supremo would give a speech. Earlier this week, Ishaq Dar, from the top echelons of the PML-N, ruled out any possibility of Nawaz’s arrest.

A couple of political parties have claimed that the ground has been made for the PML-N in the upcoming elections. But the N-league has denied such claims and hinted at the possibility of a coalition government as it did not see any party getting a simple majority.

She praised her father and the former prime minister for making the country first nuclear power in the Islamic world.

Maryam claimed that Nawaz was threatened and lured, but he did not compromise on Pakistan’s defense and dignity.

“Nawaz Sharif had said that Pakistanis are free and will remain free. Standing for the right of Pakistan and the people is the tradition of Nawaz,” she said.

Meanwhile, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said that the party would give a “historic welcome” to the party supremo.

He reiterated that the PDM government brought the country out of difficulties. “We sacrificed our political capital for the state of Pakistan. If the state had not been saved, politics would have been buried as it is.”
