Two killed after unknown assailants open fire on worshippers in Sialkot

Police say search underway to apprehend the shooters

At least two were killed and another injured on Wednesday after unknown assailants riding on a motorcycle opened fire on worshippers during prayer in Daska tehsil of Sialkot in Punjab.

The unknown assailants opened fire on the worshippers during Fajr prayer at Noor Madina mosque in Mandeki Chowk area falling under Saddar Daska police station jurisdiction.

The killed were identified as Shahid and Hashim while another worshipper Ahmed was injured in the firing, and was moved to Civil Hospital Daska.

District Police Officer Hasan Iqbal arrived at the scene with a police team after the incident was reported.

Police said that the area has been cordoned off to search and arrest the unknown assailants as investigations have been started from various aspects.

It was later claimed on social media that one of the killed worshippers, Shahid Latif was associated with a proscribed party for involvement in Kashmir and was a close advisor of the party head.
