Sony unveils new look for Play Station 5 console

The new PS5 model will be available starting this November

The Sony PlayStation 5 is the company’s most powerful console to date. But after a few years, Sony updated the hardware look with a new PS5 model that is thinner and more streamlined.

In addition, the Japanese tech giant is reported to be developing a PlayStation 5 Pro even though they have previously unveiled the PlayStation Portal, a remote-controlled portable game device.

When all of the current-generation models have been sold out, the next PlayStation 5 model will take their place.

The gadget will be 30% smaller and 18–24% lighter than the previous launch model, as well as having the long-rumored detachable disc drive.

The new system will be available in two versions, one with and one without a disc drive. Retail prices for the device without a disc drive will be $50 less than those for the normal model.

The new PS5 model will be available starting this November in the U.S. at select local retailers and direct.playstation.com.

It will continue to roll out globally in the following months.

The recommended retail prices for the new PS5 model are as follows

U.S. PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 499.99 USD

U.S. PS5 Digital Edition – 449.99 USD

Europe PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 549.99 EUR

Europe PS5 Digital Edition – 449.99 EUR

U.K. PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 479.99 GBP

U.K. PS5 Digital Edition – 389.99 GBP

Japan PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – 66,980 JPY (includes tax)

Japan PS5 Digital Edition – 59,980 JPY (includes tax)

The new PS5 comes just in time for some of the most anticipated games of the year, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 313.

Sony hopes that the new PS5 will attract more gamers and boost its sales in the competitive console market
