The education ministry has removed Dr Muhammad Ziauddin, the acting vice chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (Fuuast), Karachi, from the post over irregularities. He was replaced by Dr Rubina Mushtaq.

The acting vice chancellor was not releasing funds for pension, Federal Education Minister Madad Ali Sindhi said in a statement on Thursday.

The notification for his removal would be issued later in the day, it said, and added that the senior most professor would be appointed the vice chancellor.

Last year in September, Dr Ziauddin, the dean faculty of arts, education and Islamic Studies at the Fuuast, Karachi, was appointed as the varsity’s acting vice chancellor.
