Nawaz Sharif, his daughter, and PML-N leaders were put behind bars in an attempt to bring fascism to the country, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday.

“If working for the development of the country is a crime then we will continue to commit such crimes,” he said while addressing a party gathering in Bhullar neighbourhood of Lahore in Punjab.

Sharif arrived in his constituency in Lahore as the PML-N is preparing to welcome Nawaz Sharif in late October.

“Nawaz Sharif will return to the country on October 21. He is coming to resume the journey of development and growth which was stopped by getting him out of power,” he said.

Sharif claimed that his elder brother was convicted in a fabricated case that began with Panama and ended with Iqama. The people of Pakistan were deprived of progress and development due to Nawaz Sharif’s ouster, he said.

Nawaz Sharif, the three-time prime minister, is set to return to Pakistan from self-imposed exile in London since November 2019 due to health conditions. He was disqualified for life in 2017 by the Supreme Court owing to a failure in declaring a receivable salary.

The PML-N president said that his brother ordered to conduct six nuclear tests in 1998 despite then-US president Bill Clinton’s telephone call.

In only four years Nawaz Sharif rooted out load-shedding, and constructed highways, motorways, and initiated projects to provide education to the people, he added.

Earlier, the PML-N president said that Nawaz Sharif was not seeking vengeance but wanted to put Pakistan on the path of development as he is set to arrive in the country.

The PML-N president urged the party workers to give a warm welcome to Sharif in a bid to show him their support.
