The caretaker governments of Sindh and Punjab have decided to conduct simultaneous operations in the riverine areas, locally known as Kacha, in the two provinces.

The consensus was reached during a meeting between caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar and his Punjabi counterpart Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the CM’s Office.

Earlier this month, the Sindh Apex Committee approved and finalised details of a massive operation to be launched by police and Rangers against dacoit gangs in affected districts of upper Sindh.

The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s House. In the meeting, the two leaders discussed important issues.

Both the chief ministers expressed their agreement to carry out simultaneous operations. It was decided that the agencies there would operate in the riverine area of Punjab.

“The operation will be started at the same time from the side of Sindh,” it said, “so that no dacoit can enter the boundaries of Punjab from Sindh and Sindh from Punjab.”

Both leaders agreed on the decisiveness of the operation;

In the operation, police and other agencies/intelligence agencies of both provinces would share reports with each other.

The two chief ministers also decided that the new price of wheat would be notified after mutual consultation.
