Rejected by his lover due to poverty, a man robbed a bank van in Korangi area of Karachi to become a millionaire overnight.

Police said that the alleged robber, identified as Zohaib, was working as a security guard in a private company in Karachi for around 10 months.

He went back to Sindh’s Vihari to marry his lover two months ago, however, she reportedly turned him down owing to his poor financial conditions and married another man, they added.

Disheartened by the rejection, Zohaib returned to Karachi and began working in the same company he was working for before. On September 19, he robbed a bank van and fled with Rs60.35 million in an attempt to become a millionaire overnight, they added.

Police say the lover-turned-suspect is on the run as they have carried out over a dozen raids to apprehend Zohaib.
