An additional session judge in Punjab’s Sohawa handed a 14-year sentence and imposed a fine of Rs1 million to a public school teacher after he was found molesting minor students in Jhelum.

The teacher, identified as Amir Raza, was found guilty of committing lewd behaviour with minor students in the government-run school situated in the suburb of Sohawa tehsil in Jhelum.

Abdul Razzaq, the grandfather of a 10-year-old student, had filed a case against the teacher in Domeli police station. In his complaint, Razzaq said that the teacher had committed indecent acts with six students, including his grandson at different times.

The police had arrested Raza and sent him to jail on judicial remand while the first information report was registered under Section 377 (Sexual abuse) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
