PTI Chairman Imran Khan would be kept in the same barrack where his rival PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was kept, sources said on Tuesday. Two former prime ministers were also kept in the same place.

Hours earlier, a contingent of police moved PTI Chairman Imran Khan from the Attock Jail to Adiala Jail. At least 15 police vehicles, including two armoured vehicles, were part of the police party.

Supporters of Khan showered flower petals on the vehicle in which the police kept him.

An ambulance, along with a medical staff, was also part of the contingent.

Sources said that the PTI chief was being moved to Adiala amid tight security, adding that Khan would be provided facilities as per the court orders.

The menu has not been decided yet and an employee would also be posted for him 24 hours a day.

Earlier in the day, former prime minister Imran Khan’s remand in the cipher case was extended till October 10 on Tuesday, after the case was heard within the Attock Jail. Reports emerged that Khan also said that he does not want to be moved to Adiala Jail.

Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain travelled to Attock Jail early on Tuesday for the hearing where Khan’s lawyers were also present. Khan reportedly said during the hearing that he had adjusted in Attock Jail by now and no longer wished to be moved.

Khan also said that his petition regarding the movement to Adiala Jail will be withdrawn.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq had ordered on Monday that prisoners that were facing trials in Islamabad should be kept in Adiala. However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman was not moved to Adiala Jail until the evening, as conflicting reports emerged from his lawyers and the jail administration.

Khan’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha posted to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday that he had been moved to Adiala Jail and provided better facilities including an attached bath. However, the jail administration refuted the reports saying that Khan had not been moved yet.

The former prime minister has been incarcerated in Attock Jail since his arrest in the Toshakhana case on August 5. Although a sessions court later approved his bail in the case, he was not released as he had already been arrested from jail in the cipher case which was registered under the Official Secrets Act.

Although he continues to face multiple cases in different courts across the country, in almost two months of arrest Khan has not been presented at any court hearing. Instead, Judge Zulqurnain travels to the jail to hold hearings in the cipher case.

The law ministry approved hearings in jail after the administration said that Khan could not be brought to court for ‘security reasons’.
