PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has advised all party leaders to avoid travelling abroad before former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming which is scheduled for October 21.

“All party leaders should avoid travelling abroad before October 21,” he said in a statement issued by the party on Monday. “The friends who came to London to meet the PML-N quaid have also cancelled their programmes and given full time in their constituencies for public mobilisation.”

The PML-N also shared a video on Shehbaz on X, formerly known as Twitter.

PML-N supremo Nawaz is scheduled to return to Pakistan next month, but many rumours were rife that the development would not take place after the Supreme Court struck down National Accountability Bureau amendments.

Moreover, the decision of some PML-N leaders to return to London two days after their arrival in Pakistan had raised eye brows. The bigwigs of the party were in the UK capital to discuss Nawaz’s arrival and election campaign.

Elections in Pakistan are set to take place in the final week of January 2024, with the JUI-F demanding the polls overseer to not conduct them in the winter season.

Sources told Aaj News that Nawaz has refused to budge on reviewing his narrative of accountability of the people who allegedly hatched “2017 conspiracy”—the time when he was ousted from the office of prime minister through a court decision.

In the statement, Shehbaz instructed all PML-N centres, MNAs, MPs and ticket holders who were abroad to return home within three days.

“All senators, MNAs, MPs, ticket holders and local leaders of PML-N should devote their full attention and efforts to the preparations for the reception of PML-N quaid in Pakistan.”

According to reports, the N-league has decided to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan to welcome Nawaz.

Shehbaz has also sought reports from party members on the duties assigned to them in the organisational meeting on September 18.
