Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has directed the state-run media to give fair coverage to all political parties registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The state-owned media should not support or oppose any political party, he said while addressing an event at Radio Pakistan in Karachi on Sunday.

Solangi went on to add that it is the responsibility of the interim government to provide a favourable environment for free and fair elections where all political parties have the freedom to contest polls.

The information minister said that it is clearly written in the Constitution of Pakistan that the system of the country will be run by elected representatives.

Solangi said that it is the responsibility of the interim government to solve issues instead of making excuses. He resolved to solve the issues of Radio Pakistan and its employees.

Talking about Radio Pakistan, he said called it his dream to make Radio Pakistan the most modern organisation and that steps are being taken to improve it.

“Radio Pakistan transmission should be digital, and we are working to bring improvement in Radio Pakistan and PTV,” he added.
