A woman succumbed to burn injuries given by her husband and in-laws in Lahore. The victim had filed a complaint at the police station against the suspects a week before her death.

The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem.

On September 16, Faiza, 23, approached Nawab Town police station in Lahore and filed a complaint against her husband.

The first information report registered on the complaint of the victim included sections 354 (Assault or use of criminal force to the woman and stripping her of her clothes), 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), 355 (Assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person, otherwise than on grave provocation), 506 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 324 (Attempt to commit qatl-i-amd), and 34 (Punishment for any act with the intention of thereby causing hurt to any person) of Pakistan panel code.

The complainant married Jandoda seven years ago who did not trust her and used to beat her from the early days of their marriage.

She stated that she had returned to her parent’s home in Vehari but her husband and mother-in-law persuaded her to come back. When she returned, her mother-in-law beat her with an electric rod, tied her with to cot and threw hot water on her body.

After the alleged beatings Faiza fled from the home and reached the police station where she told police that her entire body had injuries of burning. She was moved to hospital after filing of a complaint.

The police and other law enforcement agencies after collecting evidence from the spot have begun a probe into the matter.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary and it will be handed over to the family of the victim after autopsy.
