With the elevation of Justice Qazi Faez Isa to chief justice on Sunday, major changes have taken place in two other areas of the court as well.

The Supreme Judicial Council will see a change with the addition of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan. Justice Qazi Faez Isa nad Justice Sardar Tariq Masood are already part of the council.

The council is made up of the chief justice as well as the two seniormost judges. It also includes the two most senior high court judges.

The Judicial Commission which approves the appointments of judges will also see change witht the inclusion of Justice Muneeb Akhtar.

The commission is made up of the chief justice and the four seniormost judges of the court as well as the attorney general, a retired judge and the law minister.

The newly-appointed chief justice also issued orders for Jazeela Aslam, District & Sessions Judge Okara, to be appointed as reigstrar in the Supreme Court. Aslma’ appointment, on a deputation basis, has been notified.
