Runaway groom: would-be father-in-law marries bride in Indonesia
The father of an Indonesian groom had to marry his would-be daughter-in-law after his son disappeared on his wedding day.
The groom was set to marry the girl on August 29, however, he disappeared on the day of the wedding.
As a result, the groom’s father stepped in and married the bride in an attempt to save the bride’s family from shame.
Besides humiliation and shame, the bride’s family was also concerned about the money they had spent on the wedding preparations which cost approximately $1,700 and they did not want to lose that money by cancelling the event.
In a weird turn of events, the fathers of both the groom and the bride were seen participating in the rituals only that one of them was now a groom.
It is unclear why the groom disappeared on his wedding day as people have speculated that he may have had cold feet.
