Imaan fainted when she was put in van, claims mother Shireen
Human rights activist Imaan Mazari fainted when she was put in the van, said her mother Shireen on Monday, as a terrorism court in Islamabad remanded her into three-day police custody.
“Iman Mazari fainted when she was made to sit in the van,” Shireen told reporters outside the court in the federal capital. “Despite being unconscious, she was not allowed to see a doctor. Imaan’s grandfather’s book of poetry was not even given to her.
The human rights activist was arrested after her participation in a rally organised in Islamabad. She wrote about the police breaking into her house in a social media post on X on Sunday.
Shireen said that her daughter has refused to eat, adding that the enemy wanted that something bad happened to her daughter. She did not name the enemy.
“Imaan is a human rights advocate and her life is in danger in jail,” the former human rights minister said and added that they were not going anywhere. She would appear in court, she said while speaking about her daughter and demanded her release.
But Imaan told reporters that she fainted on Sunday in her cell where a CTD inspector took away her poems books and said: “You are not allowed to read.”
Media reports said that Imaan broke into tears after meeting her mother who was present in the court.
“I have gone on a hunger strike. I was not given my books of poems. No one asked me any questions during the investigation,” she said.
