The PTI has denounced the fundraising campaign to reportedly raise money for the legal battles of the party chief Imran Khan.

Naeem Haider Panjutha, legal aid of the PTI chief, said that Khan had not given any instruction to raise money for his legal team.

“Beaware, No such instructions have been given by @ImranKhanPTI to any of his authorised legal team members. It is also clarified that no one has been authorised by Imran Khan to collect funds in this regard. Therefore it is clarified and declared that no one shall give any funding for legal battles of Imran Khan either at National level or International forums. So pleas avoid,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The rebuttal came after a statement attributed to the Human Rights Legal Aid Foundation circulated on social media, saying that Khan had instructed a team of lawyers in London to fight his legal battle.

The statement also announced the launch of a £1 million fund supposedly endorsed by the PTI chief himself.

The statement claimed that the organisation also represented PTI’s Khadija Shah, Sanam Raja, Dr Yasmin Rashid among others.

However, PTI’s Zulfi Bukhari said that PTI has not entered into any agreement with the said organisation.

“Let me make it categorically CLEAR! Nor Imran Khan or PTI has ever instructed or appointed any legal team so far. Nor does ANYONE have any mandate from him or the party. PTI has absolutely nothing to do with this organisation or fundraising linked to it,” he wrote on X.

“Whoever tries to raise funds on Imran Khans/ PTI name will be sued by the party it self. Everyone should be very careful for fake mandates or self proclaimed legal teams,” he added.

Barrister Gohar Khan said that the PTI legal team will sent notice to those who tried to raise funds on behalf of the PTI chairman.

“Imran Khan or any member of the legal team did not ask anyone to raise funds for legal matters. Those who are saying that Imran Khan sent a message or PTI leaders sent a message or the legal team, then I and all the legal team and PTI strongly deny this and we will send regular legal notices and take legal action against those who did this. They attempted to defame us, Imran Khan or PTI and commit fraud,” he wrote on X.
