In yet another case of women crossing borders to find love, an American woman has landed in Lower Dir to meet a man she met on the internet.

Kimberley, 56, is from the American state of Ohio and has arrived in Lower Dir to meet Abbas, who is a university student.

The two initially met on Facebook and have been friends for two years. They now intend to get married.

When Kimberley arrived in Pakistan she was stopped at a checkpost by the police but she told them she was a tourist.

Police sources said that the woman had not been allowed to enter Lower Dir because she did not possess a No Objection Certificate.

The two subsequently stayed in a private hotel in Malakand and are now in Islamabad to get theri documentation in order.

Abbas’ nephew told Urdu News that the couple’s nikkah has been finalised but and only some wedding rituals remained to be performed.

He also said that the two had met on the internet and it had been Kimberley who suggested marriage.
