The Lahore High Court ordered the police on Thursday to produce PTI leader Hassaan Niazi in court if he was in their custody and sought a response from the Lahore CCPO and IG Punjab in a case pertaining to his alleged arrest.

Justice Sultan Tanveer heard the petition of Hassaan’s father Hafeezullah Niazi in which he requested the court to release his son and produce him before the court.

Hassaan was [arrested][1] from Abbottabad two days ago and then he was handed over to the Quetta police.

The police wanted Hassaan in May 9 events case. Violent protests broke out on May 9 after the arrest of Imran Khan from the premises of Islamabad High Court.

The court ordered the police to produce Hassaan before the court if he was in police custody and directed the IGP and CCPO to submit a response until August 18.

According to the Lahore police, Hassaan was wanted in the Jinnah House (Lahore Corps Commanders House) vandalism case. They have sent a letter to the Home Department of Balochistan to bring him to Lahore. The Quetta police would bring him to Lahore following the legal process, they added.
