Police found bowl of ashes from Imran Khan’s residence: DIG Imran
“We confiscated phones. There was a silver bowl. When I was opening it, she [Bushra Bibi] told me not to open it. When I opened the bowl, there were ashes, a taveez (talisman) which was unreadable and a small tasbeeh (rosery),” said DIG Investigation Lahore Imran Kishwar while recalling the arrest of PTI chairman Imran Khan.
Kishwar led a police team that arrested Imran Khan from his Zaman Park residence on August 5, shortly after a court sentenced him to jail for three years.
Kishwar claimed the former first lady instructed the police team to not touch the bowl saying that it was sacred.
“She [Bushra Bibi] said that the police are here to find the money. So I told her that we do not need money and I would give her money if she needed it,” he said.
In an interview with Geo News aired on Tuesday, Kishwar said that the police had to break open the doors to enter Khan’s residence in Lahore. Bushra Bibi hurled abuses at the police officials as the police went inside the house to arrest the PTI chief, he claimed.
“The court issued arrest warrant of conviction at 12:30 pm. When went there [Zaman Park] and implemented the warrant in 10 to 15 minutes. When we went there, they were not opening the gate so we broke in,” he said.
There was no immediate response from the PTI to the claims made by the police officer.
An Islamabad sessions court handed down the jail sentence on on Augus 5 after finding Khan guilty of ‘corrupt practices.’
Khan arrived at the Attock jail located in northwest Punjab where he was given ‘B class’ facilities.
Bushra Bibi has met him twice in the jail.
