Billionaires’ showdown: Musk hints at historic location in Rome
The owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, Elon Musk has given a hint that his fantasy fight with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg would take place at a historical location in Rome.
“Livestream will be on this platform and Meta. Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all,” Musk wrote on X.
He went on to add that the fight will be managed by his and Zuckerberg’s foundations and not the Ultimate Fighting Championship, an American mixed martial arts promotion company based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Tesla mogul further said that he has spoken to the prime minister of Italy and the minister of culture.
“They have agreed on an epic location,” he added.
The fight between the tech giants was confirmed on June 22, by Meta spokesperson Iska Saric as she reported Zuckerberg asking the Space X owner to send him the location of the fight. The development came after Musk tweeted that he would be up for a cage fight with Zuckerberg.
“I’ve confirmed that Zuckerberg’s post on his Instagram account is, in fact, not a joke, which means the ball is now in Musk’s court,” she said.
Musk responded, with two words: “Vegas Octagon”.
While Musk had said that all proceeds will go to veterans, there is some business angle to the bout with Musk confirming Twitter Blue, or subscribers to his profile, will receive ‘bonus’, behind the scenes footage, Daily Mail reported.
Las Vegas was originally reported as the potential location for the showdown between Zuckerberg and Musk, yet reports back in June claimed that Rome’s Colosseum could be an option.
