A day after the National Assembly was dissolved by the president, the Election Commission of Pakistan has advised against transfers and postings of senior government officers till Shehbaz Sharif is incharge.

In a letter sent to the secretary of the Establishment division, the ECP wrote that the caretaker cabinet will be instituted ‘soon’.

“However, it has been learnt that large scale transfers/postings are being planned by various divisions/ministries/departments and institutions,” the letter added.

The ECP letter said it is ‘desirable and advised’ that the transfers and postings should be avoided until the caretaker set up took charge.

The commission said that the changes could be made ‘in accordance with the law’ once the caretaker setup takes over.
