The Lahore High Court delcared it illegal for private medical colleges to increase their fees while programs were in progress on Thursday.

The verdict said that any increase in tution fees or other expenses after the program had begun was against the law.

Justice Shahid Jameel announced the verdict on multiple similar petitions that had been clubbed together.

The court also said that the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council should make sure that colleges should collect fees that were outlined at the beginning of the program.

The order also said that an implementation report about the decision should be submitted to the LHC registrar in 45 days.

THe court also observed that many decisions that involve the fundamental rights of citizens are beyond the access and understanding of the ordinary man because of being written in English. The order said that recommendations regarding the translation of court judgements in Urdu should be forwarded to the chief justice.

However, the court added that the decisions should be translated with the consent of the judge who had written them.
