First video of moon taken by Indian space mission released
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) released on Sunday a video of the moon shot by India’s third mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-3.
In a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the mission shared the video of the moon shot during the lunar orbit insertion on August 5, 2023.
The video was released hours before the space agency’s second major exercise mission late Sunday night.
ISRO has confirmed that the lunar orbit injection was carried out around 7pm IST, placing the spacecraft in a stable lunar orbit.
It should be noted that Chandrayaan-3, launched by LVM-3 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Center on July 14, 2023, has travelled more than 300,000 kilometres in space between Earth and Moon.
The mission plans on gradually reducing Chandrayaan-3’s orbit and then to position it on the lunar poles and it is expected to land on the South polar region on 23rd August 2023.
