Maid torture case: Maryam calls for punishment regardless of culprit’s position
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Maryam Nawaz has called for culprits in the underage maid torture case to be held accountable regardless of their power or position.
Maryam visited the child, Rizwana, in the Lahore’s General Hospital on Thursday where the hospital’s MS Khalid bin Aslam briefed her on the ongoing treatment.
Speaking to the media outside the hospital, Maryam said she had come to visit the child in order to highlight the incident. She also said that she would not make any political comments.
She said that Rizwana’s condition had upset her and it was only one case that had come to the fore and there were dozens cases that were brushed under the carpet.
She also said that protecting children was one of the responsibilites of the state and that she would appeal to the authorities for the culprit to be punished.
