Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam leader Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has called on state and government insitutions to fulfill their role to protect the lives of the country’s citizens.

Speaking to the families of those martyred in the Bajaur blast on Thursday, Fazal said that he and his party had no enmity with anyone.

“We are engaged in a peaceful political struggle,” Fazal said.

He questioned why members of his party were being targeted in Bajaur and other areas and said that state and government institutions have responsibilities that must be fulfilled.

He added that terrorists will not be able to dampen the spirits of his political workers through such attacks.

Fazal also said that the attack had been condemned from the United Nations to Iran and even Saudi Arabia.

He added that he had called a pashtoon jirga on Friday to discuss the matter.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s governor announced Rs2 million for the families of those martyred in the attack and Rs700,000 for those injured in the attack.

Fazal also announced that he would provide Rs500,000 to the family of each martyr and Rs300,000 to each person injured in the attack.
