YouTuber MrBeast sues partner food chain for harming his reputation
YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson known as MrBeast, is suing the company behind his fast food chain MrBeast Burger for “harming his reputation” by making inedible food, The Guardian reported.
In a lawsuit filed in New York on Monday, Donaldson asked a judge to give him the right to terminate the arrangement with Virtual Dining Concepts which prepares orders for delivery.
He claimed that the company is serving low-quality products.
The lawsuit came after MrBeast’s fans posted images of raw meat in burgers on Twitter.
In the legal action, Donaldson included customer reviews referring to the company’s meals as “a terrible meme burger”, “disgusting” and “revolting”.
Donaldson is considered the biggest individual YouTuber in the world with more than 171 million subscribers.
He partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts in 2020 to launch MrBeast Burger out of “ghost kitchens” that exclusively prepare orders for food delivery services.
The opening of a Beast Burger restaurant in New Jersey drew a crowd of thousands, with Donaldson himself showing up for the opening.
Around 1,700 restaurants across the US were producing MrBeast Burger orders.
He has told a fan in June that he was disappointed with the MrBeast Burger offering, saying “I can’t guarantee the quality of the order. When working with other restaurants it’s impossible to control it sadly”.
The YouTuber is famous for his big-money giveaways and other charitable acts that include rebuilding homes for tornado survivors and undertaking random acts of kindness
Donaldson launched his “Beast Philanthropy” YouTube channel in 2021, which has more than 10 million subscribers.
