Maid torture case: Doctors reveal Rizwana was poisoned

Rizwana, the underaged maid allegedly beaten by a civil judge’s wife, was also poisoned, doctors said on Sunday.

Doctors said that the next 48 hours are critical for Rizwana.

Reports emerged earlier in the day was once again in a serious condition. PGMI Principal Al Fareed Zafar said that Rizwana’s condition deteriorated on Sunday when her oxygen level dropped.

Zafar added that additions had been made to the medical board overseeing her treatment, including a cardiologist from Jinnah Hospital. He said that the board would assess her condition again later on Sunday.

However, the examination revealed that Rizwana is suffering from sepsis and both her lungs are affected.

Zafar said that one of her lungs is affected while the other has drops of blood in it. He added that more samples had been sent to the laboratory for analysis.

Rizwana was brought to Lahore’s General Hospital where a special medical board was consituted to oversee her treament.

Friday’s reports had said that she was in the radiology ICU.

The board has decided to get another CT scan done to get more insight into her condition.

Meanwhile, a medical report based on her test results has been released.

The report shows that her blood pressure is 41/70 while HB levels in the blood are at 8. Her platelet count is alos at only 40,000.

The initial medical report had said that Rizwana had 15 wounds on her body including a wound on the head. It also added that her internal organs had also sustained damage.

The 12-member board had been constituted under Dr Jodat Saleem and she was initially kept in the surgical ICU.
