Monsoon rains are continuing across the country leading to the deaths of at least three people on Saturday.

The highest amount of rain recorded on Saturday was in 140 mm Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Ravi and Samanadbad. Elsewhere in Lahore 125mm of rain were recorded in Pani Wala Talab, 97mm in Qartaba Chowk, 89mm in Lakshmi Chowk and 58mm in Tajpura.

A man and his wife were killed in Harupir after the roof of their house collapsed due to the rain. A three-year-old child was killed and three people injured after a boulder crushed a house in Pallandri, Azad Kashmir.

Nullahs and streams were flooded in Rawlakot leading to houses and shops being inundated. Locals said that a a dam and bridge that have been constructed on the nullah are causing the flood.

Continuous rains across the country have also caused river levels to rise. The Ravi overflowed its banks causing houses to be inundated in Kamalia and Nankana Sahab. Around 51,536 cusecs of water were released from Head Baloki.

Multiple villages on the banks of Sutlej in Bahawalpur’s area Mari Qasim Shah have also been inundated after release of water from India.

River Indus is also in mid-level flood in Taunsa and Guddu Barrage and in low-level flood in Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma.

In Islamabad, Rawal Dam’s spillways were opened after water rose to within three feet of the reservoir’s maximum capacity. Th etotal capacity of the dam is at 1,752 feet while water has risen to 1,749 feet.
