The Supreme Court barred authorities from arresting Imran Khan in the Quetta lawyer murder case till August 9.

Since the PMD-led government is expected to quit by dissolving assemblies on August 8, Khan would not be arrested under the current setup at least in the murder case.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court took up the murder case with Imran Khan present in-person for proceedings. The bench includes Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Mussarat Hilali and Justice Mazahar Naqvi.

Justice Afridi told Imran Khan that he was being given relief till the next hearing. The PTI chairman had requested that his name be stuck out of the FIR.

Investigations into the murder of Quetta lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar have revealed that he was receiving threats over his petition against Imran Khan, the Supreme Court was told on Monday.

A report submitted by the inspector general of Balochistan told the top court on Monday that a total of four people had been listed for questioning in the case including former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The report said that the lawyer had been receiving threats over his case asking for Imran Khan to be tried under Article 6.

The IG said that a seven-member JIT had been formed to investigate the murder under the DG CTD and the team had already met eight times.

The report also said that statements from the deceased’s wife and two brothers have already been recorded. However, Imran Khan refused to show up for questioning despite multiple notices.

Supreme Court lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar was murdered on June 6 near Alamo Chowk on Airport Road in Quetta. He was involved in a treason case filed against Imran Khan.
