Stray dog rescues abandoned newborn in Tripoli

The baby was reportedly left by her mother

A compassionate stray dog in Lebanon’s city Tripoli helped rescue a newborn baby who was reportedly left by her mother to be eaten by wild animals.

A dog is said to have found the baby abandoned in a garbage bag at the town hall in the country’s northern city on Wednesday, The National reported.

After finding the newborn, the dog dragged the bag when a passer-by heard a crying sound coming from it, it added.

The baby was taken to the Islamic Hospital and later transferred to the Tripoli Government Hospital.

Photos show the baby, who appears to be about four months old, with bruises on her face and body.

Initially, her condition was described as serious but stable, with people describing her survival as a ‘miracle’.

One commentator said on Twitter that some say that the dog is an “unclean animal, however, this is not true”.

“The dog has humanity, kindness, cunning, and intelligence much more than some satanic mutants in human forms,” he added.

Another commentator said that the little girl did not know that those who were the cause of her life were about to be her killers.

“This infant did not know that her rescue from a black bag would be between the jaws of a stray dog, the mother of eight puppies, in #طرابلس near the municipality,” she wrote.
