“Nawab Muhammad Jahangir Khanji was a friendly and loving person. Today we have lost a good friend due to his death,” he said in a statement.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed his grief over the death of Nawab of Junagadh. He offered his condolences to the relatives and family of Khanji

He prayed for Jahangir’s honour and high rank.

Khanji was a staunch advocate of the Junagarh issue. He was the grandson of Nawab Mahabat Khan, who signed an agreement of accession to Pakistan in October 1947. Junagarh was one of the princely states that opted to ally with Pakistan before partition, but India occupied the territory in November 1947.

“Junagarh had a territory of 4,000 square miles and a 100-mile coastline along the Arabian Sea with many ports. Among the 562 princely states in the Sub-continent, Junagarh was the sixth richest and a welfare state which provided free education to its citizens and took responsibility to provide healthcare facilities to all of them,” Khanji told a press conference on November 09, 2023.

When the PTI was in power, he demanded that the-then prime minister should become an ambassador of Junagarh and raise the issue of liberation of the state from Indian occupation at all international fora.

The Nawab said that Junagarh was part of Pakistan and it would remain so.
