Finance and security delegations from the US to visit Pakistan
A US delegation led by Deputy Under Secretary for International Finance Brent Neiman is set to arrive in Pakistan to hold talks with their Pakistani counterparts on July 18 and 19.
As Pakistan successfully reached a deal with the International Monetary Fund, Washington is opening new avenues of talks with the country that it once described as major non-Nato ally.
In this regard, several US economic, security and defense delegations will visit Pakistan in the upcoming week.
Apart from the delegation under Neiman, a delegation led by the senior director of the US National Security Council will also visit Pakistan in the same period.
The delegation will comprise of US Defence Ministry, National Security Council and Security Departments officials. The delegation members will hold talks with Pakistani officials on affairs related to security.
Earlier, sources said that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba is also expected to travel to Islamabad on July 20. He will meet Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Although Pakistan and Ukraine have bilateral relations including defence ties, the war in Ukraine will top the agenda during the visit of Kuleba, they added.
There was no official confirmation on either side about the visit.
