The Election Commission of Pakistan will deliberate over the issue of local government elections in Islamabad today (Monday).

A meeting will be held in the ECP under Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja and will reportedly consider the matter of holding elections immediately.

The meeting will also undertake a review of the preparations made for the elections in the capital.

Local government elections in the city had been postponed in December, just days before polling was to take place.

The delay came after the government abruptly revised delimitations in the capital, citing an increase in population since the last election.
