Bungalow in Karachi’s DHA was ‘rented online’ where TikToker Ayesha died

Deceased’s father refutes claims of his daughter’s drug use

The police have claimed to have identified a suspect who booked the bungalow in Karachi’s DHA for holding a party where Sheikhupura’s TikToker allegedly died of drug abuse.

“The bungalow was booked for eight people for two days [June 23 – 24] where drugs were also consumed,” Karachi Police SSP South Asad Raza told a press conference on Tuesday. “The suspect, who booked the bungalow, escaped to London the day Ayesha died.

The suspect had come to Karachi on a business trip, he said, adding: “He has a business set up in the UK and Dubai”.

Ayesha died on June 24 reportedly of drug abuse. Her body was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center Karachi by a man and woman in a car. The duo left after doctors told them that she was dead.

Raza said that the man in the hospital CCTV footage, identified as Jibran alias Jerry, was arrested on Monday. “Jibran is a resident of the Badar Commercial area of DHA, Karachi. He is a rider who provides pick-and-drop service.”

The CCTV footage of the fateful event at the hospital also showed a female with Jibran. Raza said that a search was under way for the woman, identified as Sehrish.

According to the police officer, the suspects first room Ayesha to a private hospital, however, the hospital denied admitting her. “They [suspects] then took her to the Jinnah hospital in Karachi.”

She was not a drug addict

Sultan, the father of the deceased Ayesha, arrived at the Shahrah-e-Faisal’s Chippa morgue to receive his daughter’s body on Tuesday.

He said that his daughter was not a dancer or a drug addict. “Her husband would know if she consumed drugs. I am not in contact with Adil and have not met him yet.”

Sultan said that Ayesha had married Adil for love. The police have promised me justice, he added.

Adil was arrested on Monday. His mother told reporters a day earlier that he worked as a driver and had become a drug user.

The police started an investigation into the case after the JPMC administration informed them on Saturday, June 24. The CCTV footage showed that the vehicle that brought the body was seen outside the hospital’s Emergency Department.

This helped the investigators to know that the body was brought by a man and woman, who came in a car. The man was identified as Jibran and the girl was identified as Sehrish.

On June 25, the Karachi police claimed that they have detained the husband of deceased Ayesha from Karachi’s Golistan-e-Johar.

On the same day, the police rejected the statement of Nusrat Sobia, the mother-in-law of Ayesha, and refused to hand over the body to Nusrat.

The police have made her part of the investigation and recorded her statement, he stated.

In her statement to the police, Nusrat said that her son Adil married Ayesha two years ago. She claimed that Adil was a taxi driver and a drug addict.

“Ayesha was living with her in Gulistan-e-Johar and was working at a beauty parlour,” she added.
